Greenwich Park ⁽ᴴᵃʳᵈᶜᵒᵛᵉʳ ᴮᴼᴼᴷ⁾ by Katherine Faulkner

Greenwich Park (Hardcover)

"It's gripping and haunting, and it's beautifully suspenseful." This thriller was impossible to put down, and I can't recommend it highly enough. "  —Zakiya Dalila Harris, author of The Other Black Girl

A twisting, whip-smart first thriller about imminent motherhood, unreliable friendship, and the terrible cost of concealing secrets, as enthralling as the #1 New York Times bestseller, The Girl on the Train.

Helen's perfect life—handsome architect husband, lovely Victorian home, and a much-anticipated baby on the way (after years of trying)—begins to change the day she attends her first prenatal class and meets Rachel, a volatile single mother-to-be. Rachel doesn't seem particularly maternal: she smokes, drinks and claims to be uninterested in having children. Helen is still drawn to her. Rachel could simply need a friend. Helen, on the other hand, is a little lonely. Rachel, at the very least, is enjoyable to be around. Helen laughs at her, confides in her, and is distracted from her anxieties.

Her increasingly unpredictable behavior, though, is concerning. Helen isn't the only one who's taken note. Her friends and family start to think that her unusual new companion is somehow connected to their shared history. When Rachel threatens to reveal a past crime that may destroy their entire existence, it becomes evident that there are more than a few secrets buried beneath Greenwich Park's broad-leaved trees and soothing lamplight.

Reviews: Greenwich Park

A real sense of dread pervades the drama, which delivers startling blow after shocking punch. Even the most seasoned crime-fiction fan will be surprised by an innovative and highly imaginative narrative, complicated characters, and a surprising finale. It a fantastic first thriller. "  -- Booklist (starred review)

"Talk about tension!" says the narrator. Greenwich Park, a novel by Katherine Faulkner written from three perspectives, is about a pregnant woman who meets another pregnant woman who is nothing like her. They learn they are more related than they imagined as their friendship grows.  --Marie Claire's "2022 Book Releases to Get Excited About!"

"A fast-paced debut... With ingenious narrative twists, Faulkner keeps the suspense high throughout the novel. Fans of domestic suspense should have a look. "  --Publishers Weekly

"A thrilling thriller... with ever-increasing levels of peril, this tension-filled tale will have you guessing until the very end."  --Kirkus (starred review)

Faulkner takes a unique approach to a growing subgenre of psychological thrillers set during maternity leave... 'A fast-paced, twisting read.'  -- The Sunday TImes (UK)

It has it all: razor-sharp prose, a complex plot, a cast of unlikeable characters, and a strong feminist undertone. I pushed myself to do it as quickly as possible. I enjoyed it.  -- Harriet Tyce, author of Blood Orange

"One of the most impressive debuts I've come across in a long time... Greenwich Park is a psychologically complicated and tremendously fascinating work - in short, the perfect thriller - with numerous unexpected gut-punches along the way."  -- Caz Frear, author of Sweet Little Lies and Shed No Tears

"Greenwich Park is a meticulously designed and thoroughly enjoyable psychological thriller with all the elements of a first-rate psychological thriller. I finished it in two sittings and smiled sarcastically at the last line. "  --Charlotte Philby, author of Part of the Family (Waterstones Thriller of the Month)

"Greenwich Park is a brilliant and insightful probe into the feminine psyche as well as a traditional, pacy mystery, full of excellently observed-though scary characters. Ambient, aspirational, and enticing! "  --Harriet Walker, author of The New Girl

"Greenwich Park was eaten in two hungry sittings. The writing is razor-sharp, the characters are delightfully troublesome, and the finale is completely unexpected. This thriller will stay with you long after you've finished reading it. "  -- Robin Morgan-Bentley, author of The Wreckage

This is a tremendously addictive book. It's fast-paced, with a palpable sense of foreboding on every page. There are some fabulously disagreeable characters in this book, as well as a pounding feminist heart. "  --Abigail Dean, New York Times bestselling author of Girl A

"Greenwich Park is wonderfully engrossing and energetic, and it's impossible to turn away from the tangle of friendships, the haunting of a shameful past, and the dread of a growing infatuation from the opening pages. While many thrillers are set during the early stages of parenthood, Katherine Faulkner wonderfully tackles the tense weeks leading up to the birth of the baby, when the tension is as high as our expectations. I'm excited to see what Faulkner comes up with next. "  --Ashley Audrain, New York Times bestselling author of The Push

"A beautifully interwoven cat-and-mouse game that kept the twists coming until the very end."  --Ruth Ware, #1 New York Times bestselling author of One By One

Katherine Faulkner is a phenomenal writer. Greenwich Park is engrossing, eerie, and beautifully tense. I couldn't put this thriller down and can't say enough good things about it. "  --Zakiya Dalila Harris, author of The Other Black Girl
