About the Author
Will Smith is an actor, producer, and musician who has had a broad career spanning cinema, television, and multi-platinum songs. He is a two-time Academy Award contender, Grammy Award winner, and NAACP Award winner.
Smith began his career as a rapper in 1985 and is most known for his appearances in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "I AM LEGEND," the BAD BOYS, and MEN IN BLACK film franchises, HITCH, and, most recently, ALADDIN. In addition to his transformational performances of true-life figures in ALI and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, for which he received Academy Award nominations, he also starred in CONCUSSION. Smith recently produced and acted in BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, the greatest film office smash of 2020, as well as producing and starring in HBO Max's poignant and most-watched "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" 30th Anniversary Reunion special.
Next, Smith will produce and star in Warner Brothers' KING RICHARD, which will be released on November 19th, as Richard Williams, the controversial father of American legends Venus and Serena Williams. Smith will begin shooting EMANCIPATION, Apple's forthcoming written action film directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by his Westbrook Studios, this summer.
Smith co-founded Westbrook Inc. with Jada Pinkett Smith, Miguel Melendez, and Kosaku Yada in 2019, to allow artists to tell stories that resonate with a worldwide audience. Westbrook Studios, Westbrook Media, a digital production studio, social media management, and creative brand incubator, and Good Goods, a direct-to-consumer firm, are all located in Westbrook. Westbrook Studios is the home of the Emmy® nominated Facebook Watch series "Red Table Talk" and is rapidly extending its entertainment footprint by serving as the studio home for all new premium TV and motion picture productions. Smith will work as a producer on Westbrook's future films, KING RICHARD, EMANCIPATION, and PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES. King Richard II and EMANCIPATION were the most recent films created by Westbrook Media. They also produced "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's" 30th-anniversary reunion special and the Snap series "Will From Home." In response to the stay-at-home edict, Smith's family, famous friends, and common individuals who were likewise confining themselves indoors made cameos in "Will From Home." Peacock has announced an unusual two-season order for "Bel-Air," a dramatic reinvention of the Fresh Prince franchise. The Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation were established by him and his wife to support inner-city community development, youth educational projects, and underprivileged children and their families.
