In this story of loss, fame, and love from bestselling author Jennifer E. Smith, an indie artist recovering from tragedy reconnects with her estranged father on a week-long cruise.

Greta James worked hard for her spectacular journey to indie celebrity. She spent her childhood strumming her guitar in the family garage before she graced magazine covers and sold-out concerts. Greta's mother, Helen, was her first fan, and her face shone brightly in the dusty downtown pubs where she started, but not everyone encouraged Greta to pursue her aspirations. While many people fantasize about having a crowd sing their name, Conrad saw only a hazardous future for his daughter.

Greta has spent her life attempting to disprove him, but three months after Helen's untimely death, and just weeks before the release of her high-stakes sophomore album, Greta has a viral onstage meltdown. To avoid the embarrassment and heartache, she reluctantly agrees to accompany her father on a week-long Alaskan cruise, the same one that her parents had scheduled to commemorate their fortieth wedding anniversary.

This may be the James family's last chance to repair past wounds, and it will prove to be a journey of discovery for them, as well as for Ben Wilder, a historian who is also dealing with a huge life change. Greta's mother enjoyed Jack London's adventure novel The Call of the Wild, and he manages to catch Greta's attention after a string of hook-ups. While Greta strives to regain her confidence and heal, Ben faces an uncertain future. They must rely on one another to make sense of life's difficult decisions. In the end, Greta must choose between listening to her inner song and making peace with those who love her.
